WHIMSY WOODS HAS ALWAYS BEEN GREEN

Whimsy Woods has always tried to be a good citizen of the planet as well as a good company for our customers. We concentrate on American made products - from wood to paint to packing materials - because we believe they are safer, cleaner, healthier - simply better. And what's healthier for our planet is also better for the families that will live with our products, and better for us working with these materials every day as well.

We start with solid, unfinished wood - no manufactured wood products, composites or 'by products' that may have stinky glue or resins, chemical treatments or plastic coatings. We use only non-toxic, low VOC, water based, American brand name paints and finishes. No 'brand X' imports of the sort that show up in recalls from time to time. Our hand painted furniture is topped with a durable, water-based clear finish - all done by hand in our own family workshop.

Our hardwood products come from plantation grown trees, our pine from sustainably harvested plantings. The wood is never treated or chemically altered in any way.

We use all the clean, post-consumer (recycled) packing materials we can get our hands on. At present that's about 70% of our boxes and almost 95% of the paper or foam we pack inside. And we're always looking for ways we can do better - suggestions are welcome.

We aren't exactly new at this - Whimsy Woods has been in business for almost 15 years... but as life-long organic gardeners we began using earth-friendly practices long before anyone called them 'green.'
