It's easy to customize your Whimsy Woods order, since all of our handpainted furniture starts with bare wood and is truly custom painted to order. Just ask! CUSTOM COLORS: You can request color changes for most of our handpainted designs. You can specify a generic color change - for example, a different color background or accents. (For example, Petit Choux is popular on white, Red Roses can easily become peach roses on an ecru background, or perhaps you'd like Seaside painted on Navy blue instead of white?) You can also select a Ralph Lauren, Laura Ashley or Benjamin Moore paint color by name, or send us a color swatch for matching. We'll let you know what we have in stock - we carry about 65 paint colors and can often cross-reference similar colors from different manufacturers. If you need an exact match and we don't have one in stock, the surcharge for a custom mixed paint color is just $10. (Note - we cannot use online or emailed pictures for custom matching, the colors vary too much with software settings.) DESIGN CHANGES: If you'd just like to re-arrange our design a bit, we can change which colors dominate and which are accents within a design. For example, Petits Choux rocking chairs usually have bright pink for the flowers and the main accent color, but we can use the leaf green or the background yellow for the arms, legs and rockers, resulting in a softer look. We can add a extra color to a many designs (i.e., Posies with pink and blue flowers,) change the background color, or omit elements to tone down a higher-contrast design. Companion patterns? We'll be happy to paint two different designs in the same color scheme. If you can imagine it, we can probably do it. CUSTOM DESIGNS: We are open to custom design requests but note we will not duplicate copyrighted designs - whether Disney characters, sports mascots or work done by other studios. And as shown online, our painting style is more graphic art than realism - so we don't do landscapes or pet portraits. SPECIAL ORDER ITEMS: Contact us if you are looking for a special piece not shown on our website. Please note we are not offering oversized pieces that require freight shipment (larger beds, armoires, etc.) at this time. HOW TO ORDER: Design changes and color substitutions can be requested in the COMMENTS box on our order form, please also note if you are sending color or fabric samples for matching. If more detailed instructions are needed or you want to discuss design options, we can do that via email, phone or mail. If you are sending color swatches be sure to reference your order number and include any special painting instructons in that correspondance. CONFIRMATION: Yahoo runs our website and processes our orders before sending them to us. New orders automatically receive their standard order confirmation message. We send a separate email confirming the details of customized orders within 1-2 business days. We will also send confirmation of additional painting instructions or changes, and will let you know if we have any questions or suggestions. Please contact us if you do not receive a confirmation message - Whimsy Woods cannot be responsible for email glitches that result in lost messages. COST: We keep about 65 paint colors in stock and there is NO EXTRA CHARGE for color substitutions using in-stock paint colors. If we do not have a color you need, there is a one-time fee of $10 for a custom mixed paint color. That's less than the cost of a quart of paint, and we'll keep your custom color in stock for at least a year. Custom design work will only incur a surcharge if the changes require more labor or time than we normally spend on a particular item. However please note that special order and customized items are not returnable - so please check with gift recipients before you send your nephew a toddler bed in Minnesota Viking's purple! |
